PBE WORKSHOP – How to play and sing
Date: 24 June 2016 (Friday)
Time: 1300 - 1500 hrs
Venue: 144 Wescar Lane Ottawa, band rehearsal studio
Fancy trying to sing like Celine Dion or Bryan Adams? Or perhaps you'd like to play the piano while doing a Sarah McLachlan? We cant teach you how to sing like them, but we can help take care of the piano playing in this intense 2-hour express workshop!
There are generally two ways to play on the piano; solo playing and accompaniment (also know as comping). Solo playing is how a lounge pianist plays, alone and without vocals. The melody line is played on the piano, usually by the pianist’s right hand. For accompaniment (comping), the melody line is sung by the vocalist, (pianist or another singer).
In this workshop, you can learn how to accompany your playing (comping) with your singing with some basic rhythmic comping patterns and easy chord progressions using voice leading techniques with relative major and minor7th chords.
